2014: Derek completed his freshman year at Prairie State College, a junior college in Illinois. He played at third base, as well as behind the plate, and was fourth on the team with a .364 batting average and third on the team with 30 RBI’s.
High School: Derek attended Greeley West HS and was a two sport athlete, as he lettered in golf and baseball. In his three years on the varsity golf team, he was a state qualifier two of those years and a 2nd team All-Conference selection his junior and senior season. As a baseball player, Derek was voted Honorable Mention his junior year, and 2nd team All-Conference his senior year. He also earned Academic All-State honors his junior and senior year.
Personal: Son of Daphne and Tom DeNovellis… His favorite movie is Bad News Bears and favorite TV show is The Walking Dead… Favorite pro teams are the Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, and Colorado Avalanche… born on May 21, 1994… Would like to become a doctor when his baseball career ends.
