Mike Wallace enters his first season as the West Hills College Coalinga Head Coach in 2022. Coach Wallace comes to West Hills College from the club travel ball ranks where he built and led the Firecrackers Central California Softball Club here in the Central Valley. The Firecrackers Central California Softball Club under Coach Wallace’s leadership have directly transitioned over 50 student-athletes onto four-year institutions since 2016. Coach Wallace’s players have gone on to play at all levels of collegiate softball, to include Power 5 Conferences, Mid-Major Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 and NAIA.
As the Lead Recruiting Coordinator, Coach Wallace has built a recruiting network with college programs across the nation. Coach Wallace is a recognized hitting and infield instructor. Coach Wallace has also assisted student-athletes from other club organizations through facilitation of recruitment camps and clinics.
The Firecrackers 18 Gold team under Coach Wallace was ranked as the #45 18U club team in the United States. In 2021, Coach Wallace had the honor of having pitcher Lilliana Garcia selected to the Mexico Junior National Team where she went on to win a silver medal in the Junior Pan American Games.
Coach Wallace’s collegiate baseball career was at Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan after being recruited by several NCAA Division 1 programs throughout the Midwest. Coach Wallace elected to pursue a career in the United States Navy after his time at Henry Ford College. Coach Wallace while serving in the United States Navy, played for the All-Navy Baseball Team, now the United States Military All Stars.
Coach Wallace obtained his bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Restorative Justice Studies from Fresno Pacific University in 2010. Prior to his coaching career, Coach Wallace was a Police Officer for the Lemoore Police Department performing assignments in Patrol, Field Training Officer, Narcotics, Youth Development Officer and Detective. Coach Wallace also served Kings County as the Youth Services Coordinator at the Kings County Office of Education from 2014 to 2020. While at the Kings County Office of Education, Coach Wallace worked extensively with school districts to improve educational outcomes, graduation rates, and promote post-secondary achievement for foster, homeless and incarcerated students.
Coach Wallace is married to his wife, Sherry, and has two daughters, Madison, and Mackenzie.
