Falcons head to Southern California for El Camino Tournament

TORRANCE – The Coalinga College men's basketball team hit the road for the second time this season as the Falcons were in action at the two-day El Camino College Tournament. Unfortunately, the trip didn't go as planned with the Falcons suffering losses in both games.

Coalinga opened on Thursday with a 77-68 loss to Oxnard College. That was followed by a closer game with the same result, a narrow 62-58 setback to host El Camino on Friday.

Oxnard 77, Coalinga 68
Isaiah Robinson led the Falcons with 23 points and 6 assists in their first game of the tourney. Ryan Gomwalk nearly had a double-double with 13 points and 9 rebounds while Whylkeems Estimond also achieved the feat with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Kristian Graham also scored 13 points in the loss.

El Camino 62, Coalinga 58
The Falcons led late, up 55-54 with 4:35 to play after a pair of free throws by Gomwalk. But El Camino went back out in front for good with a 6-0 run. Graham's three-pointer with 56 seconds left got Coalinga within two points at 58-56, but the Warriors iced the win with a pair of free throws in the final moments of the game.

Gomwalk led with 26 points and added 6 rebounds. Graham totaled 14 points thanks to 4 three-pointers.

Coalinga, now 1-2 overall, is back in action on Wednesday (Nov. 12) when the Falcons travel to Diablo Valley College for a 7 p.m. non-conference game.
