Falcons win second straight, beat Chabot 28-7 at home

COALINGA – Quarterback Justyn Delzeit tossed a touchdown and ran in for two TDs to help lead Coalinga College to an impressive 28-7 victory over visiting Chabot College on Saturday afternoon at the Memorial Bowl.

The Falcons' offense was efficient, posting 375 total yards while the defense held it's opponent to a season-low seven points, intercepted two passes, and kept Chabot out of the end zone for three quarters.

Delzeit put together his finest game of the early season in guiding the Falcons' offense. After Chabot missed a first-quarter field goal attempt, Delzeit connected with David Dunn on a big 68-yard reception to get the Falcons inside the Gladiators' 6-yard line. Two plays later, Delzeit snuck in from a yard out to get Coalinga on the board.

The Falcons added a 2-yard touchdown run by Demarion Wright in the second quarter to take a 14-0 advantage. Wright had a solid game, coming just short of 100 yards rushing as he totaled 95 yards on 20 carries to lead Coalinga.

Chabot scores it's lone TD on the ensuing drive to cut the Falcons' lead in half but went back out in front by 14 points after an 11-play, 65-yard drive just moments before halftime. Delzeit found Marcos Ruiz for an 8-yard TD to send the Falcons into halftime leading 21-7.

After a scoreless third quarter, Delzeit closed out the scoring by running for a 10-yard touchdown. He closed the game rushing 12 times for 17 yards and a pair of scores. Delzeit completed 13 of 28 passes for 193 yards with a touchdown and interception.

Dunn led receivers with 3 catches for 77 yards and Ke'Marian Albert contributed 6 rushes for 38 yards.

Christain Constant led the Falcons' defense with 9 tackles while Jackson Kissee had 8. Joseph Espinoza and Nathaniel Stroud came up with the big interceptions and Julian Zaragoza and Brenin Hendricks shared a sack.

After a pair of tough losses to open the season, the Falcons have now won two straight and improved their overall record to 2-2. Coalinga hosts College of the Siskiyous next Saturday (Sep. 27) at 1 p.m. in its final tune up before opening American Golden Coast League play.
