Falcons become bowl-eligible with big 55-7 win at Gavilan

GILROY – Coalinga College moved a step closer to the postseason thanks to a 55-7 Golden Coast League win at Gavilan College on Saturday.

With a 5-4 overall record, the Falcons are now bowl-eligible for the third straight season and will look to increase those odds when they close out the regular season next Saturday (Nov. 23) at home against Hartnell College. The program will honor its sophomores prior to the 1 p.m. kickoff at Memorial Stadium.

On Saturday, Coalinga set the tone early against Gavilan as the Falcons put up 27 points in the opening quarter.

"It was a great team win from start to finish," said Coalinga head coach Justin Berna. "Special teams, offense, defense all played well."

Quarterback Logan Johnson had another terrific outing, passing for 4 touchdowns while running for another to help lead the Falcons to the win. The high-flying Coalinga offense has scored at least 45 points in all five of its victories this season.
