VISALIA – Kaleb Latimer's solo home run in the top of the third inning proved to be the difference in Coalinga College's 2-1 Central Valley Conference win at College of the Sequoias on Friday.

The Falcons are playing solid ball as they head towards the end of the season. Coalinga has won three of its last four games as it heads into the 2025 finale on Saturday (Apr. 26) at home against Merced College.

Kota Watanabe turned in one of his finest efforts on the mound this season. He earned the win after scattering seven hits and just one run over eight innings. Watanabe struck out four and walked one. Jaydian Chavira picked up the save by closing the game with a perfect ninth inning.

The Falcons opened the contest by scoring a run in the top of the first. Paul Martinez delivered a two-out, RBI-single to drive in Teruki Kato to give Coalinga the early lead.

COS (16-23, 9-14 CVC) scored its lone run in the bottom of the fourth.

The win improved the Falcons to 8-29 overall and 6-17 in Central Valley Conference play. Saturday's season finale against Merced is set for a 1 p.m. start.
