A king and queen of the diamond reign supreme at Coalinga College.
Following impressive sophomore seasons, baseball's Teruki Kato and Bryton Loflin from the softball team have been selected the 2025-26 Coalinga College Student-Athletes of the Year.
Kato, a native of Japan, wrapped up one of the finest seasons in Falcon baseball history. He was named the Central Valley Conference Player of the Year after leading the CVC in hitting with a .425 batting average. He tallied 65 hits, 7 doubles, 4 triples, and 32 RBI. He also stole 12 bases and struck out just 17 times in 181 plate appearances.
He racked up the postseason honors, as he was selected to the CVC Gold Glove team while also being forwarded as a unanimous All-State honoree from the conference.
Off the field, Kato compiled a 3.94 grade point average at the college and received Honor Roll as well as President's List honors each semester. Kato is majoring in business administration.
Loflin closed out a solid two-year softball career at the college this spring. She hit. 388 on the season, leading the Falcons with 47 hits, 13 doubles, 5 triples, 31 RBI, and 16 stolen bases. For her efforts, Loflin was named first-team All-Central Valley Conference for the second straight year.
Originally out of Monache High School in Porterville, Loflin leaves the college with a .392 career batting average with 11 home runs, 26 doubles, and 68 RBI. Her 47 hits this season tied a school record. Last year, Loflin set the RBI record with 37.
In the classroom, she earned a 3.60 GPA, majoring in business administration. Loflin was named to the Honor Roll during the spring 2025 and fall 2025 semesters.
