West Hills College Registration Checklist 

*This guide is intended to help Student Athletes prepare for successful admission to West Hills College.

 

1. Admission Application
  • Complete online at www.westhillscollege.com.
  • Choose Liberal Arts-Social and Behavioral Science as your major.
  • Once your application is complete you are provided a Username and Password that is used to log-in to myWestHills, Email (username@my.whccd.edu), and myCourses (Online Class Login).
  • Trouble logging in?  Contact the Help Desk at 559-934-2002.

2. Placement Testing and Orientation
  • All students need to either submit unofficial transcripts which include all grades from high school classes (and current classes held before graduation), or they must complete a Placement Test! Unofficial transcripts are must easier, especially for out of state students.
  • Once you have your unofficial transcripts, please send to Coach McGovern (stefanmcgovern@whccd.edu) or Erin Corea- Athletic Counselor (erincorea@whccd.edu), so we can place you in the proper Math & English courses and get your registered. 
  • View Placement Test and Orientation Schedule at www.westhillscollege.com/coalinga/admission/placement_test.asp.  Call 559-934-2174 to schedule appointment.
  • If you have taken a Placement Test with another Community College please obtain your results along with an interpretation of the test results and we can use those to determine your placement.

3. Financial Aid
  • Many WHC students receive some type of financial assistance in the form of grants, loans, and/or scholarships to help pay for the costs of attending West Hills College.
  • To apply, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • You can obtain all necessary forms and instructions at the Financial Aid Office located in the Administration Building or online at www.westhillscollege.com/coalinga/.
  • You must check in with Financial Aid Department prior to registering for classes to ensure you will not get dropped from classes!

4. Counseling and Advising         
  • Meet with your Assigned Counselor to develop a Student Educational Plan (SEP) in your 1st semester.

Schedule your appointment by calling 559-934-2300.

 

5. Registration
  • Class Schedule available at www.westhillscollege.com.
  • Register through MyWestHills.  Be sure to register for the full academic year!
  • All athletes need to enroll in IS 1 – College Success during their 1st year. 
  • Payment for fall classes is due by July 15th. **If you register for classes prior to July 15th, but do not pay for those classes by July 15th, your classes will be dropped. After the 15th of July, once you register, you must submit payment within 24 hours to keep those classes.  If Financial Aid is covering your tuition costs, make sure your financial aid is completed and awarded!

6. Get your Student Body Card (College ID) from Student Services!
  • This card is mandatory for Student-Athletes.  The cost is $7.50.

  • EOPS, CARE, Cal WORKS, TRiO/SSS, DSPS, Fostering Student Alliance, Free Tutoring, Library where textbooks are on reserve, and Career/Transfer
