Sophomore Tee Gonzales Named 3C4A Award Winner

West Hills College Coalinga student-athlete Teonia "Tee" Gonzales was honored with the 2017 California Community College Counselors/Advisors Academic Association Student Achievement Award on Thursday (March 29) in Concord.

The award presentation, which included a $500 scholarship for Gonzales from the 3C4A, was part of the Celebration of Scholar-Athletes Luncheon at the 20th Annual California Community College Athletic Association in front of nearly 300 college athletic members, friends and family.

Gonzales - a two-year volleyball standout - was recognized for overcoming great odds and completing a successful career at WHCC in athletics, academics, and community service. She shared part of her life story and journey to Coalinga in a moving speech that led to a standing ovation.
