Cervantes earns second-team All-CVC honors

West Hills College Coalinga sophomore Stephanie Cervantes was named second-team All-Central Valley Conference after a standout season for the Falcons in 2019.

Cervantes, out of Mendota High School, was the Falcons' primary pitcher and also saw time in left field. She pitched in 27 of West Hills' 29 games this season and compiled a 3-15 record. Over 127 2/3 innings, Cervantes totaled 20 complete games, 62 strikeouts, and had a 6.91 earned run average.

From the batter's box, Cervantes led the Falcons with a .326 batting average, 28 hits, 15 runs, 7 doubles, 3 triples, and 2 home runs. Her .414 on base percentage and .547 slugging percentage were also tops on her squad.

The Falcons recently wrapped up the season with a 6-23 overall record and finished tied for sixth place in the final Central Valley Conference standings with a 5-16 mark. Head coach Staci Mosher completed her 20th season leading the program.
