Martinez's Walkoff Gives WHCC Falcons Victory Over Porterville College

WHCC Falcons took Thursday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 2-1 walk-off victory over Porterville College. The game was tied at one with WHCC Falcons batting in the bottom of the seventh when Chase Martinez singled off of Sophia Chamberlain, driving in one run.


The pitching was strong on both sides. Chase Martinez struck out five, while Sophia Chamberlain sat down three.


Porterville College captured the lead in the second inning. Raeleen Torres drove in one when she singled in the second inning.


In the bottom of the fifth inning, WHCC Falcons tied things up at one. An error scored one run for WHCC Falcons.


Martinez earned the win for WHCC Falcons. She went seven innings, allowing one run, seven hits, and striking out five. Chamberlain took the loss for Porterville College. She threw six and two-thirds innings, giving up two runs, seven hits, and striking out three.


WHCC Falcons collected seven hits. Brenna Cortez and Martinez each collected multiple hits for WHCC FalconsCortez went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead WHCC Falcons in hits.


Porterville College had seven hits in the game. Mckenzie Hendricks and Torres each collected multiple hits for Porterville College.
