WHCC Falcons Goes Down On Final Play Against Harnell College

It came down to the last play, but WHCC Falcons was on the wrong end of a 10-7 defeat to Hartnell College on Thursday. The game was tied at seven with Hartnell College batting in the bottom of the seventh when Kaitlin Shipman homered off of Chase Martinez, driving in three runs.

Despite the loss, WHCC Falcons did collect four hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Hartnell College had 11 hits on the way to victory.

Hartnell College captured the lead in the first inning. Bethany Cardenas singled on a 2-2 count count in the first inning, scoring one run.WHCC Falcons scored four runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to a double by Sarah Ramirez and a home run by Chase Martinez.Hartnell College evened things up at seven in the bottom of the sixth inning. Danielle Caoili drove in four when she homered in the sixth inning.Hartnell College scored five runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Hartnell College came thanks to a single by Emily Espino and a grand slam by Caoili.

Caoili earned the win for Hartnell College. She threw seven innings, giving up seven runs, four hits, and striking out two. Martinez took the loss for WHCC Falcons. She went six innings, giving up ten runs, and 11 hits.

Home runs for Hartnell College came when Caoili homered in the sixth inning and Kaitlin Shipman homered in the seventh inning.

Martinez and Brenna Cortez all had two hits to lead WHCC FalconsWHCC Falcons didn't commit a single error in the field. Ramirez had the most chances in the field with 11.
