The West Hills College Coalinga softball team starts the 2017 season on the road where they will be traveling to Cuesta College to compete January 28th, 2017 at 10 AM and 12 PM. Their home opener will be Saturday February 4 against Monterey Peninsula College at 12 and 2 PM. The Falcons are led by Coach Staci Mosher who is entering into her 19th season as Head Coach, assisted by Gaby Brixey (4th season) and Cady Brazelton (2nd season).
The WHCC Falcons welcome back 5 returning sophomores which includes CVC All Conference Selections Holly Stafford (2nd Team-OF) and Chase Martinez (Honorable Mention-Util). Other returners for the Falcons this season include: Hannah Martell (P/Util), Alexandra Lovett (MI/OF), and Kiesha Ramos (C/3B). The Falcons add 8 student-athletes to the roster and will utilize all in many different situations. The freshman class include: Hannah Jones (OF), Destiny Duran (MI), Mykenzie McMasters (1B/Util), Brenna Cortez (OF/MI), Sarah Ramirez (P/1B), Racheal Wellemeyer (C/OF), Sierra Allen (OF), and Arianna Castro (C/3B). When asked about the season Coach Mosher said, "I am optimistic about the upcoming season with a good core of returners supported by a talented group of freshman."
The WHCC Falcons schedule consist of a 40 game season, where they will travel up north to compete during the preseason. The Falcons will host 21 home games, while traveling the remainder of games. The WHCC Falcons will be hosting their Second Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game Saturday February 18, 2017 at 1 PM. Find any WHCC Falcon softball player to purchase your Breast Cancer shirt. Concluding the game will be the annual home run derby.
