WHCC Falcons jumped out to an early lead, but was unable to hold on and lost 8-5 to Hartnell on Monday.
A two-run triple by Kaitlyn Shipman gave Hartnell the lead in the fifth inning.
Hannah Martell was solid at the plate for WHCC Falcons. Martell went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. She homered in the second inning and singled in the third and seventh innings.
Kaitlin Doyle recorded the win for Hartnell. She tossed five innings of shutout ball. Doyle struck out six, walked none and gave up three hits.
Martell was the game's losing pitcher. She allowed eight runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out two.
The top of the second saw Hartnell take an early lead, 2-0. Shipman started the rally for Hartnell with a single. A single by Alli Yatsky then moved Shipman from first to second. Marley Morlet singled, plating Shipman and Yatsky.
WHCC Falcons answered Hartnell's top inning with two runs of its own in the second. WHCC Falcons scored on a solo home run by Martell and an error.
The game's last lead went to Hartnell thanks to a fifth inning rally that saw five runs cross the plate on a sacrifice fly by Jo Salao, two singles, and a two-run triple by Shipman.
