WHCC Basketball: Falcons Start New Era

WHCC Basketball: Falcons Start New Era

The 2018-19 basketball season at West Hills College Coalinga will have a new beginning - but with several familiar faces.

Replacing the retired Mark Arce is one of his successful former student-athletes: new head coach Adedokun Olanrewaju.

As a top assistant, Olanrewaju helped guide the 2017-18 Falcons to a 19-8 record and a second-round CCCAA postseason appearance. The team was ranked as high as No. 5 in the state.

He is joined by Arce's two other assistant coaches, Travis Blackstock and Allen Mkrtychyan.

The new Falcons' roster features eight returners from last year's playoff program - sophomores G/F Ricardo Time, PG Matthew Pitter, G Jordy Saintvil, F Sh'Keil McDowell, G/F Anthony Johnson, and redshirt freshmen G Isaiah Green, G Kadarren Washington, and F Terrell Garner.

After a pair of preseason tournaments (Cuesta, Fullerton), WHCC will open the 2018 home schedule against Bakersfield College on Nov. 20.

College basketball publication Signal The Light Basketball projects the Falcons to finish fifth in the nine team Central Valley Conference. For the complete CVC preview, click the following link:
