
The No. 8 West Hills College Coalinga Falcons remain one of the hottest teams in the state with a 107-79 home victory over Porterville College on Wendesday night.
WHCC improved to 3-0 in the Central Valley Conference and 12-2 overall.
The Falcons got off to a fast start in their conference home opener, leading 59-41 at halftime. Three WHCC sophomores reached double figures in scoring by the break: Darrius Scott (14), Landon Johnson (12) and Lloyd Hanna (12).
Johnson finished with a career-high 26 points (3-5 3FG). He entered the game averaging 4.7 points per game.
Scott, the team's leading scorer on the season, had 19 points (5-9 3FGs) and Hanna added 18 points and 5 assists.
Sophomore point guard Winder Joseph finished with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore wing Delvon Hightower (photo) had 9 points.
Freshmen Ricardo Time chipped in with 7 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists; and freshman forward Eric Hollins-Hamilton had 6 points and 7 boards.
Porterville (1-2, 6-8) was led by forward Tevin Howell's 18 points.
