CHICO, Calif. — Sacramento remains the NCFC’s lone unbeaten team through seven weeks of play after knocking off Sierra to open NorCal Conference play. Teams continue league matchups in the National Division this week, with several intriguing matchups highlighting the slate.
The National Offensive Player of the Week is San Mateo quarterback Miles Kendrick, who completed 12 of 18 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 66 yards on 10 carries with two scores.
The Defensive Player of the Week for the National Division is Sierra defensive back William Brocchini, who picked off three passes among his eight tackles, including one for a loss.
In the American Division, Myron Norfleet is the Offensive Player of the Week. The West Hills quarterback ran for three touchdowns on 10 rushes for 44 yards, and threw for 177 yards on 15-of-24 passing.
The Defensive Player of the Week in the American Division is Blake Flovin, Foothill linebacker. He recorded 18 total tackles, 11 of them solo, with one for a loss and an interception.
National Division
American River (5-1) at Sacramento (6-0), Saturday: Local rivals lock horns as the undefeated Panthers look to keep it going at home against the Beavers. Each team kicked off conference play victorious and represents an enticing challenge for their opponents this week.
American Division
West Hills (3-2) at Monterey (4-2), Saturday: The leaders of the Golden Coast Conference at 3-0 in league play and winners of four straight, Monterey will try to keep its run intact. West Hills, already with a loss in league play, could tighten things up with a victory on the road.
