The West Hills Falcons will look for their third straight win on Saturday, when they travel to Monterey Peninsula College for a Golden Coast League showdown at 6 p.m.
The Falcons (3-2 overall) are 1-1 in the GCL, a title they have won three straight seasons. The Lobos (4-2) are atop the GCL standings with a perfect 3-0 record.
"They have an awesome team," said WHCC head coach Justin Berna.
"MPC is very well-coached, with an explosive offense. We will need another great game in all three phases."
The Monterey Peninsula offense is averaging 32.2 points per game (2nd in the GCL), while WHCC is averaing 30.4 (3rd). On defense, the Lobos allow 22.0 points per game (3rd), and the Falcons give up 23.4 (4th).
WHCC freshman QB Myron Norfleet, recently voted American Division Player of the Week, leads the state with 13 rushing touchdowns. He also ranks fourth in the league in passing - averaging 209.8 yards per game.
MPC's freshman QB Hunter Raquet ranks fifth in league passing yards (194.3) and his nine passing TDs ranks fourth.
Falcons freshman WR Nick Williams leads the team with 68.2 receiving yards per game, which ranks fifth in the GCL. MPC's top receiver, Michael Armstead, ranks sixth in the league with 65.5 yards per game.
On the ground, MPC tailback Hunter Nye ranks third in the GCL with 86.8 yards per game and seven TDs (2nd). Norfleet (60.4 ypg) and sophomore RB D'Andre Van Exel (51.2) rank sixth and seventh, respectively.
The WHCC defense is led by sophomore LB Josh Parks, who ranks second in the league with 8.2 tackles per game; and sophomore DL Eric Powell (a two-time division Player of the Week) ranks second in the GCL with seven sacks in five games.
