WHCC Sophomores Selected First Team All-State

The football postseason awards keep coming for the three-time Golden Coast League champion West Hills College Coalinga Falcons.

The JC Athletic Bureau announced its 2016 All-State selections on Thursday, as voted on by the California Community College Football Coaches Association.

Falcon sophomores LB Ualesi "Wes" Sale and DB Justin Hayden were named First Team All-State for Region II.

"This is a tremendous honor for both of these deserving young men," said WHCC defensive coordinator Kai Ellis.

"Wes is a great athlete, helping us at linebacker and defensive line. He was a key part of our success these last two seasons."

"Justin had a breakout year. He worked extremely hard all season. Justin was awesome as an open-field tackler, very reliable and consistent with his play in the secondary."

Ellis, a former CCCAA State Defensive Player of the Year himself, added that both players are currently being recruited by several four-year universities.

"There are a lot of talented players at this level, and for Wes and Justin to be honored is quite an accomplishment."
