The Falcons have been searching for a #2 starter all season, having mixed results from several different pitchers, so when Sophomore Justin Vlotho got his opportunity, he made the most of it. Making his first start of the year, Vlotho didn't disappoint as he held Reedley College scoreless through 7 innings. The Falcons offense was also held in check by Tigers' starting pitcher Evan Sagariballa. They did get to him in the 3rd inning though as Christian Dent hit a one out single to right and was quickly advanced to 2nd on a groundout by Scotty Ingle. After a two out walk to Mckay Glines put runners on 1st & 2nd, Alante Uribe came up big as he hit a two out RBI single to left, scoring Dent and putting the Falcons ahead 1-0. That score held until the top of the 8th, as Vlotho went out to start the inning. After hitting the leadoff batter, the Tigers attempted a sacrifice bunt to the first base side, which was fielded by Vlotho, though his throw went into the baseline, allowing both runners to advance a base. With runners on 2nd & 3rd and nobody out, Falcons went to their closer Mack Morford who gave up an infield single to Luke Smith. With the bases loaded, Morford got the next batter to fly out to shallow right field, forcing the runners to hold. Reedley brought pinch hitter Trent Pires in, and he was then hit by a pitch, which tied the game at 1-1. With the bases still loaded, a passed ball which got passed catcher Matt Siedem allowed Reedley to take the lead. After two more singles, a sacrifice fly, and another passed ball, Reedley took a commanding 5-1 lead, which was more than enough for Sagariballa, who went the distance. The Falcons will look to win one game of this three game series at Reedley College on Saturday at 1pm.
