Williams makes a name for himself |

Williams was a standout as a prep at Miami Northwestern in Florida, but he was unable to qualify so he made himself a home at West Hills and he said he couldn’t be happier about it. “Coach (Shane) Keck stuck with me the whole way,” Williams told JCFootball.com. “He said I could come out and do well and then I could get moved on and I’ve been really happy out (in California).” Williams originally came to the Falcons as a safety prospect, but his services were needed at corner so he made the switch late in the season. “I can play wherever a team needs me to play,” Williams said. “I came in as a safety, but I also had a chance to play corner, so I played out wide. I’m comfortable playing either one, so it really doesn’t matter to me.” As stated earlier, Williams tested well at the So Cal Combine held at Orange Coast College on May 2nd, running a 4.51 forty time, putting up 185 pounds 10 times on the bench and posting a 38-inch vertical as well. Williams posted 53 tackles and three interceptions and that performance at a position he was unaccustomed to is what has schools from across the country eyeing him. “I’ve heard from North Carolina State, Iowa, Arizona, USF, Nevada and Marshall,” Williams said. “No offers have come in yet, but I think I’m off to a good start. “Right now I’m just keeping my options open and not really set on going to a particular area or school. I just want to see who recruits me and who offers and then decide from there.” Williams has been hard at work in the classroom and will graduate in December and will have three years to play two wherever he ends up. Spring Report
4/3/09
West Hills has just finished with the condition portion of spring ball. They have been in football conditioning for the last three weeks and the future looks promising. After a disappointing year the Falcons see next year's team to look a lot different. "The biggest change you will see is our maturity. We started 17 freshmen last year, and all of those guys are back. Our guys are lifting hard in the weight room and really getting after it in the class room too. This is the best spring since I have been at West Hills" Defensive Coordinator Shane Keck said. The offense looks poised to be a force in the Valley Conference with 9 starters back. The Falcon offense has looked sharp in the spring. "One of our the more positive things is we have two quarterbacks back that started last year, and they are doing a great job leading this team" Coach Steve Wright Offensive Coordinator. The Falcons biggest challenge for the Falcons may be on defense, especially in the secondary. Losing All American Corner Back Darryl Robinson, do it all Linebacker/Safety Kent Bell and two year starters Cody Norton, Maurice Mathis, and Willie Bell is going to leave big shoes to fill. When asking Coach Keck about the holes in the secondary he is quoted as saying "those guys were a huge part to what we did on defense, and they have a large part in helping build this program. But, we do have two redshirt corners that have good size and speed, both 6'0'' 200 lbs. At the safety position we bring back a full time starter and a starter who redshirted last year. We also just got a transfer from the state of Michigan, who looks like he may help us also. I also know there are a couple of freshman that we are recruiting that will have a chance to compete right away." It seems head coach Cal Tincher has his Falcons headed in the right direction. West Hills is on spring break this week, we will have an interview with head Coach Cal Tincher when school resumes on April 13th. |
